Wake Forest falls to Florida State, 41-28

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons couldn’t slow down the Florida State Seminoles in a 41-28 defeat.

The offense managed to score a touchdown in each quarter, but the 31 first-half points given up to the Seminoles was unacceptable.

Florida State was starting its backup quarterback and the Wake defense still couldn’t make a stop, which has been the story of the season.

It’s been a season of narrow losses for the Demon Deacons, whose record shouldn’t certainly better than it is.

Head coach Jim Grobe has to be beside himself with some of the ways Wake Forest has failed to close out games.

Wake Forest falls to Georgia Tech, 33-27

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons pushed the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to overtime before falling, 33-27.

The Demon Deacons managed just a field goal with the first possession of overtime, putting the pressure on their defense.

Wake Forest managed to stop the Yellow Jackets on third down, setting up a fourth and one inside the five-yard line.

However, the Yellow Jackets elected to go for the first down instead of kick the field goal, and they got it with a quarterback sneak.

The very next play, Josh Nesbitt walked into the end zone, chalking up yet another close loss for Wake Forest.

Wake Forest falls to Miami, 28-27

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons were poised for their best win of the season only to watch it fade away late in the fourth quarter.

The Demon Deacons let a lead slip away on Miami’s final possesion of the game in a 28-27 loss to the Hurricanes.

Wake Forest had to play with its backup quarterback late in the game because of a head injury to Riley Skinner.

The offense tried to march down the field to set up for the game-winning field goal but was unable to get deep into Miami territory.

A desperate, 60-yard game-winning field goal attempt came up wide right and well short as time expired.
