Wake upsets North Carolina, 82-69
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons stormed into Chapel Hill and knocked off the North Carolina Tar Heels, 82-69.
Wake looks like a team that is growing up before our very eyes. They hung tough to beat Maryland in overtime last week and then lost a barn-burner to Duke Sunday night.
It’s pretty clear that they are starting to gain confidence and are more team oriented than last season.
Point guard Ishmael Smith is the catalyst. His ability to penetrate almost at will and shoot the mid-range jump shot, get to the rim, or set up a teammate is carrying the Deacons.
He and C.J. Harris led the Deacons with 20 points each, but it’s Smith’s leadership that is undervalued.
